CREATING SANCTUARY

The practice of creating a personal space, a sanctuary, I have found to be a way to amplify the learning held within this course. It can help to center you, ground you, and is a transition from the outside world to your internal world.

sacred space

I invite you to create a sanctuary space in your home. This is a space that you will go to throughout this program to center, ground, tune-in, write, meditate and be. It doesn’t need to be an entire room, a corner or a closet will do. I invite you to do this in the name of creating a practice of going within. There is something magical that happens (and there is science that speaks to this) about creating a ritual and going to a specific space that you have set aside for this work. Going to ‘your sacred space’ signals to your brain that you are now beginning the practice. It creates a sort of gateway for you to walk through into this deep work. Embrace this and make it your own.

Begin by placing a pillow or folded blanket in this space. Find a bench, crate, or a low table on which you place something that you love. It can be anything such as a figurine, a keepsake, a photograph of a loved one, a stone or crystal, a shell or something that you connect with in a way that feels authentic and inspiring. You are creating a sacred altar.

Light a candle, burn some sage, play some music or enjoy silence and be…

Just be.

Still.

Breathe.

Visit this space often (make once a day your goal) as a place to allow all of who you

are to be welcome.

(Here is a little take away sheet for you to create your own sanctuary as you enter into this work… both for the time you are taking this course and beyond.)
