APPRECIATION

“When you stop living your life based on what others think of you real life begins. At that moment, you will finally see the door of self acceptance opened.”

-Shannon L. Alder

Appreciation . . . by definition it is the recognition and enjoyment of the “good”(healthy and functional) qualities of someone or something.

I am filled with appreciation for you and for all the steps along your journey that have brought you to this place. Thank YOU for being here, now!

APPRECIATION

I think for any relationship to be successful, there needs to be loving communication, appreciation, and understanding.

I am guessing that this may be new for you, and I would like to now invite you to show some appreciation for yourself. Can you recognize that you have made a choice to be here now, in week THREE? Can you enjoy the fact that you have been showing up to do the hard work that supports your growth? Can you feel happy and enjoy the vision that you hold for yourself of showing up in a life of your choosing? Can you appreciate that there are many choices you have made that have been absolutely brilliant? You are doing it! You are showing up for yourself and taking your self-care on a new level! You are bringing awareness and acceptance to the truth of who you are. Take a moment, experience this self-appreciation.

YOU ARE NOT THE STOCK MARKET

As a transformation coach I see a lot of self-deprecation, most of time people aren’t even aware of how frequently and freely they are putting themselves down. This is self-depreciation. Think about what happens as something depreciates. It’s value goes down. You are not the stock market. You are not a commodity to be traded. Your value is intrinsic, it does not change.

It has actually become acceptable in our society to put ourselves down. At the same time expressing sentiments that build ourselves up are misinterpreted as bragging or prideful. I have actually heard a parent say to their child, “You sure do think an awful lot of yourself, don’t you?” As if this were a bad thing! As I became aware of my own unconscious mind chatting away about how fat I thought I was or how big my butt was or how I wanted to cut bangs when I saw a huge zit on my forehead etc. I realized how shockingly normal and easy it had become for me to tear myself down rather than build myself up. I felt scared someone might think of me as a narcissist. To be clear just the question or fear that you might be a narcissist means that you aren’t one.

At some point along my meandering path of self discovery and self love became familiar with the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto of Yokohama, Japan. His work struck me to my core when I learned of the devastating impact of subtle and not so subtle deprecating messages I was sending myself. Dr. Emoto conducts scientific studies showing the incredible transformation of water, crystals, and even rice when exposed to loving messages versus deprecating messages. It is profound and it has changed my life in a HUGE way. Have a look...

See what I mean? Wow, right?! It is mind blowing to see how energy effects water. And as the video says, the average human is comprised of over 70% water. This simple, yet challenging shift of changing the messages you send yourself throughout the moments of your hours, days, weeks, months and years can have a life changing affect.

This understanding alone can have a profound impact on the level of appreciation you may now be willing to have for yourself. The state of appreciation is a wonderful act of [self] love. When I experience myself being appreciative I feel full of love and I want to share that love through reciprocity. I want to give whether it’s words of thanks or a gift or a hug. This feeling is intoxicating in the highest form of the word. Imagine giving appreciation to yourself! Imagine thanking yourself for eating well, getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and for honoring your intuition.

Imagine showing yourself appreciation instead of condemnation.

Imagine what your life would feel like, how happy you might feel, how light and beautiful you would experience yourself.

Imagine.
