ACCOUNTABILITY

“Accountability breeds Response-ability.” Stephen Covey

By definition to be accountable is to justify actions or decisions; responsible.

As you acknowledge the powerful impact of the choices you have made and your ability to choose differently in any moment, you can begin to hold yourself accountable. Your power of choice is infinite. As you uncover the truth of who you really are you will organically find your stride as your authentic self.

When you are accountable to yourself as well as for your choices you begin to see two very important things changing — the awareness of what you want sharpens and your ability to respond authentically in any situation increases. This work increases your ability to respond to the world around you. You’ll see evidence of the world around you changing by witnessing the effects of the choices you make. Notice the shift in your reality. Commit to making choices that support your desired outcome.

BECOMING CONSCIOUS

Consciousness is the state or quality of awareness of something within oneself. Making choices from the state of consciousness is the key to creating. It is said that 95% of your consciousness is below your awareness. Your sub-conscious brain has far more computing power than your conscious brain. Most of the choices you have made up until this point have been just that — below your awareness, formed by parents, circumstances, society, culture, school — life! When you move from unconscious choices which are reactive in nature to conscious choices which are responsive in nature your life starts to change in remarkable and welcome ways.

Please take this in… You have done the best you could with the experiences and life circumstances that you were given. Give yourself a big hug here, you did the absolute best you could with what you knew at the time. Allow this to sink in for a moment. Allow yourself to sit with this truth. YOU DID THE BEST YOU COULD.

Now, that you are increasing your awareness, I urge you to pledge to take accountability for where you are in your life right now, in this moment. On the surface, this may seem gloomy for you. But I would offer you another thought. What an amazingly powerful position you are in as the captain of your life! From here, with this information, you can accept that you have the power of choice. You now know that you have the ability to respond differently! As your choices bring results you can have increased faith that your new choices will bring about new consequences! Your greatest power is your power to choose. Choose consciously.

when nothing changes, nothing changes

In order to experience different end results you must make different choices that create the structure they need in order for them to materialize.

Acknowledging what’s real with conscious awareness opens the door to responsibility (that is, the ability to respond, to make new choices.) You have the gift of complete and total responsibility and ownership for yourself including all the choices you have (already) made. Can you see that these are the are what have brought you to this moment in your life? You are a powerful creator! Can you see that you are the predominant creative force in your life. Now you have the opportunity to consciously create the outcomes you’d like to see more of in your life.

From the moment that you wake in the morning you are making choices. You make the choice to check your phone (or not), to scroll (or not), to check emails (or not), to snooze the alarm three to five times (or not) — I think you get the idea. Consider that the first choices you make each day set a pace for the remainder of your day. What choices do you make daily? Examine these and you have your ‘morning routine’. Changing your morning routine isn’t an easy one and when you break it down into a series of small choices it’s actually quite simple. The hard part (for most of us) is honoring your word to do what you say you are going to do.

Integrity is doing what you say you’re going to do. As humans, we go in and out of integrity — that means to yourself as well as others. When we don’t do what we say we’re going to do — we are out of integrity. Taking ourselves through a process of accountability brings us back into integrity. When we are in integrity we are in alignment. From a place of alignment we are more capable and more clear, more tuned into our intuition. As you take yourself through this process notice the micro-shifts that you experience. Take note of them.
